Most stoves come with an aluminum foil wind break which is not sufficient for winter camping. Use a heat chimney which, as well as acting as a wind break, also concentrates the hot air around the sides of the pot rather than just heating the "countryside". My home-made heat chimney was made of light aluminum riveted together. It is 1/2 inch larger diameter than my largest pot and has lots of air holes near the bottom.
